DO MIRACLES HAPPEN TODAY ?

Let me begin by sharing an incident that happened in my life. One day as I was returning back home from my office, somewhere on the way I lost my wallet. I was completely upset because all my important cards – ID and Bank ATM’s were in my wallet. On reaching home I informed this matter to my room-mates. They replied to me saying chances are very less to get back my wallet, but still I should pray for it. So I prayed for it. After two days I started to think whether at all I would really get back my wallet ? At the same time when I realized the importance of my cards – I decided to pray again and this continued for a week. As usual when I was working in my office and checking my mails, I noticed a mail from one of my friends who stays at Vapi. The mail energized me and I opened it with curiosity. It was about the lost wallet. Sitting in front of my PC, I wondered as to how my friend has come to know about my lost wallet, as I had not discussed anything with him. Immediately I phoned him. He replied and mentioned about the stranger, who got my wallet. The stranger found a sim card (my old number) in the wallet. He put the sim card in his phone and tried to make contact with the numbers, with an aim to reach the owner of the wallet. Thus he contacted my friend and narrated the entire matter to him as to how and from where he got my wallet. As my friend did not have my new number, he dropped a mail. Thereafter I called the stranger who introduced himself to me. He was a resident of Kosamba, a painter by profession and had come to Ankleshwar for his contract work. On his way, he saw the wallet lying on the street and picked up. Thereafter, I reached Kosamba railway station and collected my wallet from him. I was happy to see all my cards in it. I thanked him and we both had tea together. I told him that it was the prayer that helped me to find my wallet back. All the way returning back to Ankleshwar, I was praising and thanking Jesus for this wonderful work, which took place in my life.

There are literally hundreds of accounts of miraculous healings today among countless Christians but these are at the discretion of God alone. God miraculously heals some while choosing not to heal others for His divine purpose. No one would accuse the apostle Paul of having a weak faith, yet God refused to heal him after he asked three times (2 Corinthians 12:8). In God’s higher wisdom, He knows who and what to heal and what is best for the believer in choosing not to heal someone. Yes, miracles still happen, but they are not at the direction or discretion of believers but a decision of God alone. He does heal through petitions of prayers but there are times when His answer is no because He has a higher purpose in mind. Our sufferings and afflictions work out a purpose that we may not be able to understand at this time (Romans 8).

God is still in the business of miracles. I believe that the greatest miracle of all is that of converting a blind sinner to see their sin and to change the human heart; from one of serving the god of this world to seeing their own sin and the need of a Savior in Jesus Christ. The miracle of human conversion is actually greater than any healing miracle because this brings eternal life in Christ. A healing miracle is only temporary. The person healed will eventually die but the one that is born-again has inherent eternal life that can never be lost and that person can live with God for eternity, never to die again (John 3:16).

God still has a covenant with His children. God still wants to show unbelievers that He is real and loves them. The church is still praying and believing God for miracles. God still wants to show us His glory. God has said "Behold, I will do a new thing, shall you not see it spring forth?" God still loves us. In fact, Paul said, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39) I encourage everyone who is reading this article to open your spiritual eyes and watch God do miracles that will blow your natural mind and take you on the journey of your life. I can tell you from experience, there is never a boring day with God. He is a Father that loves to give his children good gifts.
